Notes: The waxed nylon chord is long lasting and you can wear it in the water, but please note that this hook is part wood and not waterproof. Oiling the wood will help protect and preserve it. Each hook is handcrafted and due to the nature of the wood there will be slight differences in appearance.

This Hawaiian fish hook (Makau) is a traditional breakaway hook. I made this using a strong indigenous wood called A’ali’i and cow bone. Each composite hook is doweled and glued with a two part epoxy. The cord is made of a durable nylon cord adjustable.
